vox populi

give your opinions, suggestions, comments, or anything about the following issues in the comments box :)

issue
: indian elections, 2009. lok sabha as well as assembly.

issue: are men and women really innately that differently; or is socialization a major factor, so much that it's got into our genes? simply put, where do hormones and socialization (i call it social manipulation..just like we created 'castes' for hierarchical domination) stand, diverge and/or intersect?

musings

. i am a string of memories

. if i can't accept any man as he is and still love him, i don't mind ending up with a woman.  it's not about the sexuality alone.

quote quotient

"Darkness gives at least a false impression of coolness."

rudyard kipling, chapter 11 ("the city of dreadful night"), life's handicap.
thanks to amitendu :)

"The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think"
-my immediate source: orkut 'fortune'!!

potpourri

food for thought :)

{yeah, i cook and i love to!}

soups
i often have plain dal, boil sweet corn, etc; and as these arent thin in consistency, the leftover water, after boiling, has to be drained out. immaterial of the amount of water used, due to pressure cooking, some gets left out. (someone pls let me know the technique that doesnt leave out water :) )
this is highly nutritious, and thus can't be wasted. so i use this water to make clear soup. if the volume is too less, i simply add some more water, and cook the soup by spicing it up with hints of ginger, pepper and garlic.
it's simply a soothing concoction :)

stereotypes

pink perversion

(excerpts from a wiki article on pink)

  • In Western culture, the practice of assigning pink to an individual gender began in the 1920s.[5] From then until the 1940s, pink was considered appropriate for boys because being related to red it was the more masculine and decided color, while blue was considered appropriate for girls because it was the more delicate and dainty color, or related to the Virgin Mary.[6][7][8] Since the 1940s, the societal norm apparently inverted so that pink became appropriate for girls and blue appropriate for boys, a practice that has continued into the 21st century.[9]
  • Though the color pink has sometimes been associated with gender stereotypes, some feminists have sought to reclaim it. For example, the Swedish radical feminist party Feminist Initiative and the American activist women's group Code Pink: Women for Peace use pink as their color.
  • The pink ribbon is the international symbol of breast cancer awareness. Pink was chosen partially because it is so strongly associated with femininity.[10]
  • It has been suggested that females prefer pink because of a preference for reddish things like ripe fruits and healthy faces.[11][12] This suggestion, however, has been criticized as unsubstantiated.[13]
think about it :)

personality preconception

just because i speak about my boyfriend, don't care about getting straight As and don't choose to listen to boring classes for attendance, i'm not a bitchy moron. just because you visit the library everyday, don't think of having babies but only about entering the civils one day, you aren't a genius.

save the monkey!

deforestation, encroachment, street circus, cruel lab testing, current wires. besides, the ill-treatment by humans.
reasons enough?
yet, this species gets less attention, because, 1. they aren't endangered (yet!) and 2. the stereotype of menace, danger and species inferiority.

come, let's look for ways to save our neglected ancestors:

moving on..

http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Over-a-Break-Up helps, really :)

it's only 2 weeks since the break up. i didnt want 2 break up. though i was shattered initially, once i realised that irrespective of how much i've been attached to the other person, if i don't get the miminum respect i deserve, (as a human, if not as a soulmate), i don't need to be his mom anymore. no more 'trying to understand' his silly stupid ruthless actions. his chances are exhausted.
and boy, did i move on!

coupling

ironic that to some, love is whom they discover after the elaborate, mundane procedure of an 'arranged marriage', to some, it's whom they find beautiful and lovable at the first sight, to some others, it's a matter of compatibility, understanding, getting along and all that. each, though, has its highs and lows, its pains and comforts. each, definitely, has some miracle to offer..
it only becomes more beautiful when one realises that it's one small, simple life..

gratitude..

this is what life gifted me with, at tough times..

friends - this deserves another blog altogether..some males just sweetly stayed on the other side of the phone 2 hear me bashing their 'clan'!
1. raj: hey, you know, you are as mature as women of my age. (u know, he's 25 btw!) and you can always count on me for your life.. (Aaaaawwwww!!)
2. priths: a. men, maaaann! every god-damned male thinks the same..that we are kids. n when they realise the truth, their ego so badly hurt, they wud do anything to stitch it up.
b. if the world had no males, there would be world peace.
c. women rock!
NOTE: (also from priths): just like men, we too have our weaknesses..we are very particular about things, and always worry about not making a mistake..and we make a lot of issues out of this. we are just frustrated that our clan is more misunderstood, stereotyped and looked down upon.. we love you men, let's work out our differences!
3. kittu: a. areyyy abhiiiiiii!!!! (aaaaaawwwww again!!)
b. men cry..inconsolably.
4. nikhilesh (over the phone): (after listening to my order that i'm simply going to vent out to him, coz all my friends are busy with exams..)..(in his typical, soft low tone)..mm, yeah, shoot!

holidays - time!!!
books..kiterunner (though this made me cry even more, it also showed that sad times are natural and shall pass..)
that french chocolate with grape-in-wine filling...mmmm.......wine!!
dad's coming home..(which filled pockets!)
swimming, driving, guitar!!
kerala and a gurukul programme to look forward to..
n blogger..to vent it all out.

all these might seem silly, but they only made me more positive.

political thought

pointless movies, serials, reality shows, 'breaking news' with pointless plots, people who follow, analyse and discuss them; such credulous, silly people electing politicians who shamefully show up only before the election with clearly fake promises and lame accusations on others; and all these people, believing in a 'god' and acting out of their irrational presumptions of 'him'/'her' - these are the hand-in-hand, vicious reasons for most apathy in the country today.
